CVI have studied Computer Science at the Technical University in Donetsk, Ukraine and then Computer Science at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Erlangen, Germany, and got my academic grade of Diplom-Informatiker there (corresponds roughly to M.Sc., some say it's somewhat higher than M.Sc.). I specialized in Databases, Communication Systems, and Operating Systems (main subject), my auxiliary subject was Physics.
My pre-master's project (Studienarbeit) was a distributed learning model of a blast furnace in Java with Java RMI. The text of the Studienarbeit is in German, you can download it here as PDF or gzip'ed PostScript. My Master's Thesis (Diplomarbeit) was about translating specifications in the SDL language to the then new SystemC language in the scope of the project named "Hardware/Software Codesign and Rapid Prototyping of Embedded Systems".
During my studies in Germany I lived in a student hostel on Rommel street in the south of Erlangen. (Here's a photo shot on February 8, 2001)
After the university I worked at the Chair of Communication and Distributed Systems, Department of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, till I joined Aixigo, a company that develops financial software.
If you have actually been searching for Dr. Alexander Babich, metallurgist (that's my father), you probably want to contact him or learn about the institute where he works.
My e-mail is babich@gmx.de. You may
write to me in Russian, German or English.
This web site is available at http://babich.gmxhome.de/. It would be valid XHTML if my hoster didn't automatically put a script for a pop-up just in the beginning of the document.
